Although still widely used today, neon is not a recent technology. Even with the advent to L.E.D. lighting, neon will never be replaced completely.
Here are some quick facts on neon:
1. Despite the name neon, we are actually referencing the use of two gases, neon and argon
2. Neon burns red and argon burns blue. Only with colored glass tubing can we create other colors
3. L.E.D. lighting is still incredibly limited in terms of colors
4. Heat is actually on of the worst enemies to neon and its supporting components
5. Neon is powered by transformers
The next time you are looking for a sign that creates a smile, consider neon!
